'Play Smart - Stay in Control'
West Australia Responsible Gambling Awareness Week - 14 - 20 May 2012
Responsible Gambling Awareness Week 2012 initiative is being driven from a partnership between Centrecare, the Gaming and Wagering Commission, TAB, Burswood and Lotterywest.
The week will assist in raising the profile of Centrecare's responsible gambling counselling service while building on other government and industry activity, which at all times work to promote responsible gambling practices in the community.
The focus of the 2012 campaign is 'Play Smart - Stay in Control' which emphasises the need to undertake gambling activities in a balanced and responsible manner while setting an affordable spending limit within which to play.
Throughout the week, the key theme 'Play Smart - Stay in Control' will promote responsible gambling practices at Burswood Casino, in Lotterywest retail outlets, TAB stores and at racing events.
Tony Pietropiccolo, Director of Centrecare says, "For most people who gamble it's an enjoyable experience but for some it may adversely affect many areas of their life. Responsible Gambling Awareness Week will help to alert people and their families to the common signs of problem gambling before it becomes a problem.
Responsible Gambling Awareness Week is just one way to recognise the cooperative effort between non-government, government and industry, encouraging responsible gambling. It's important to see that collectively, as organisations, we have the promotion of responsible gambling high on our priority list."
