Royal Commission Chair, Justice Peter McClellan, has revealed just over 41 percent of the institutions mentioned in the more than 1,400 private sessions by survivors of child sexual abuse were run either by a Catholic order or diocese. Speaking at this year’s Child Aware Approaches Conference in Melbourne Justice McClellan said nearly 62 percent of people the Commission had spoken with were sexually abused in a faith-based institution and that nearly 35 percent were abused as children in a school setting.
